Sidemount diving offers divers several benefits, flexibility, more breathable gas, a redundant gas supply, a streamlined set-up and a compact set-up for travelling.
There are a lot of Sidemount setups available and our sidemount training is aimed at not only explaining what to look for in a sidemount system and how it is best configured to suit your diving.

Sidemount setup is best used in overhead environments, such as caves and wrecks, where many restrictions normally impassible to the back mount diver can be passed with in sidemount.

The sidemount configuration also lends itself to entry level technical diving, although we’d suggest sidemount is only suitable up to Advanced Nitrox/Deco Procedures or Tec45 level.

Sidemount diving really comes into it’s own in restricted overhead environments where convention twin tank arrangements can not be worn, but sidemount configuration can often pass with ease. If you are planning on becoming cave or overhead wreck trained then its advisable to get training in side mount diving up to advanced level prior to moving into cave and wreck diving using this configuration.

The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper planning, procedures, techniques and hazards when using Sidemount configuration. Including rig setup and streamlining, cave control, balance & Buoyancy, finning techniques, cylinder manipulation, dealing with emergencies are all coved in our curriculum.

At Mexico Underground we run the basic Sidemount course over 3 days

The class fee includes logistics and training materials, we highly recommend purchasing and owning your own equipment for sidemount diving but can rent equipment to students if required for use during your cavern and cave training.
